Are you a soccer fan looking to add some excitement to your game? Watching soccer can be a very enjoyable past time. But if you are getting bored with the games, you need to spice up the games with a special ingredient – sport betting.
Many soccer fans don’t bet because they are unsure of how the bets work. It’s true that the bets can be confusing for new gamers. But once you are familiar with the different types of betting, you will see how easy it is to bet on soccer.
Type 1: Win, lose of draw.
This is the most basic type of betting. Let’s say there is a particular team that you support. You know the team so well that you are confident of predicting the way the games will go.
So let’s say you predict that you team will win in the next game. You visit a sport betting site and check out the odds. The odds looks reasonable, so you go ahead and place the bet. If your team really end up winning the game, then you would have won the bet and may collect your winnings. But if the game ends up draw or if your team loses, then you have lost the bet.
But what if the odds are not in your favor? Can your team lose the game and you still end up winning? The answer is yes, but with a different type of betting, known as handicap betting.
Type 2: Handicap betting.
This is another type of betting that is very popular. Handicap is designed to even the odds so that the game remains interesting. This is usually done when one team proves to be stronger than another and is expected to win.
For instance, the stronger team (Team A) may be given a handicap of -1 goal, and the weaker team (Team B) +1 goal.
That means if the end result is Team A 1 : Team B 0, and you bet on team A win, then you still lose the bet because of the 1 goal handicap. But if the handicap is less than 1 goal (e.g. 1/4 goal, 1/2 goal), then you still win.
If the end result is Team A 2: Team B 0, then you win the bet by 1 goal.
This form of betting can be very exciting because a difference of 1 goal can mean losing or winning the bet.
Type 3: Player specials.
Do you have a favorite striker? If so, you can choose to bet on player specials. For example, you can bet on your striker scouring a goal in the game, or you can bet on the striker scoring a hat trick. Of course, there is always a risk return trade off. The lower the possibility of the outcome happening, the higher the odds. You can even bet on players getting booked! (haha)
Type 4: Total goals.
Guess the total number of goals in the game. There is usually a range – e.g. 0-2 goals, 2 to 4 goals, etc.
Type 5: Exact score.
If you have a higher risk appetite, you may wish to bet on the exact score. It’s not easy to get the exact score correct. For this reason, the odds are always rather high. If you bet on really outrageous outcomes (e.g. 6:0), the odds can be as high as 300:1!
There are other forms of betting, but they all exist to make the games more interesting.
